Overview of Position:

The Regulation Program Specialist reports to the Corporate Integrity Director. This role will assist with the facilitation and maintenance of accreditation and regulatory compliance in both inpatient and outpatient locations as required by agencies such as Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Standards and Conditions of Participation (CoPs), the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and other Centers of Excellence Accreditations or Certifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Coordinates compliance with all State and Federal Hospital regulatory requirements.
2.    Coordinates and prepares system-wide mock survey activity.
3.    Communicates mock survey reports to departmental leadership, assisting with review and action plans as directed.
4.    Tracks mock survey action plan completion.
5.    Provides clinical support for Regulatory Surveys of all types as assigned.
6.    Assists with preparation, support, and delivery of various regulatory compliance presentations of an educational nature.
7.    Conducts a documented gap analysis of regulations / standards in conjunction with leadership as directed.
8.    Proactively identifies compliance risks and brings to the attention of the Corporate Integrity Director, unit leadership and manager.
9.    Participates in system-wide committees as assigned to relate / explain regulatory guidelines or changes as needed.
10.    Responsible for monitoring HFAP and/or CMS websites for upcoming regulatory changes and proposed rules.
11.    Maintains working relationships with legal services, executive and senior leadership, department managers and directors, medical staff, regarding the organization and accuracy of action plan reports and all documentation required regarding regulatory and accreditation surveys. 
12.    Assists in preparation of HFAP applications for all hospital-based locations in a timely manner prior to survey activity as required.
13.    Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    Bachelor’s degree in healthcare field
2.    Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
3.    3 Years of experience in healthcare
4.    Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and Power Point.
5.    Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution and analytical skills.
6.    Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
7.    Pro-active problem-solver with excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.

3.    Promotes Patient and Employee Safety

• Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment
• Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
• Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.

1.    Works in an office environment.
2.    Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

4.    Answers phones, uses a personal computer, scanner, copier, fax, which requires finger dexterity.
5.    May occasionally bend, reach, push, pull, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl.
6.    Employee may be required to travel to other departments/floors or travel to other locations.
