Lead and develop a high-performing regional technical service organization that ensures customer success, protects PPG market share, and drives specification preference for coating solutions. This role serves as the critical focal point between customers, sales, and S&T-translating technical expertise into commercial advantage while ensuring flawless product performance from launch through lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and scale a regional team of Technical Service Representatives, establishing clear performance metrics and development pathways
- Support technical service training internally and externally
- Ensure efficient and effective utilization of technical service assets and resources
Customer Service Excellence
- Lead team to deliver technical service on time according to customer requirements and expectations
- Implement technical service activities to fulfill service-level agreements with customers
- Look at options to improve productivity and costs in our customers line with activities that increase output, decrease scrap, improve curing profiles among others
- Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual technical service requirements for key customers
Technical Problem Resolution
- Lead investigation and reporting of customer product complaints, including on-site visits for problem assessment and resolution
- Provide comprehensive technical service throughout the entire paint process to meet quality and cost targets
- Support customers in product application-related issues
New Product Introduction & Optimization
- Coordinate and support introduction trials of new and modified technology at customer plants
- Assist in secure product launches, providing feedback to adapt formulations and sales tools
- Monitor PPG product performance in customer production and provide feedback to technical team for formula optimization
Secure Launch
- Working in close collaboration with sales organization, ensure that the Secure Launch is successfully implemented for each opportunity
Customer Relationship & Market Intelligence
- Build effective customer relationships and gain deep understanding of their processes
- Network and share information with customers to add value to their business
- Maintain current understanding of industry trends and technical developments affecting target customers
Performance Management & Compliance
- Manage collection and reporting of product and operational KPIs at customer production lines
- Manage and improve technical service procedures and standards
- Comply with Company & statutory EHS regulations and quality systems
Qualifications
1. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent
2. Proven experience in technical service, sales, or a related role, minimum of 10 years’ working experience in the lab and/or technical service management.
3. Effective problem solving and communication skills are required.
4. Well-versed in coating raw material and application. Good knowledge of coating formulation, defect analysis, surface preparation, and application equipment 5. Result-oriented, resourceful and a team player with the ability to work independently and in a dynamic & challenging environment.
6. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills while proficiency in verbal & written English and local language.
7. Ability to develop the competency of subordinates.
8. 40-50% regional travel for customer sites, launches, and critical issue resolution
