What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Oversee the preparation and review of technical accounting memos for complex, significant and non-standard transactions according to US GAAP and applicable local statutory standards (IFRS).
- Work cross-functionally with business functional teams, including Controllership, Finance and corporate business partners (FP&A, Tax, Treasury, GPSC, Legal) in analyzing transactions, determining accounting treatment and the proper financial reporting based on GM's Chart of Accounts (CoA).
- Prepares and reviews quarterly-annually financial reports to SEC team for 10-Q and 10-K disclosures purposes.
- Lead the modernization of current processes by working closely with regional Controllership teams, providing insights and technical accounting guidance, while ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
- Facilitate and influence the implementation of global accounting policies updates by reviewing, communicating and proposing critical changes to be incorporated into the Corporate Circular Letters (CCL), collaborating closely with regional Controllership.
- Effectively communicate technical accounting analysis to regional leaders and key partners.
- Collaborate on training for regional Controllership teams related to new or change accounting policies.
- Act as a coach to team members, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to foster professional growth, enhance performance, and promote a collaborative team culture.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor degree completed in Accounting
- English from intermediate level (Advanced or Fluent English will be a significant plus)
- Experience in accounting or auditing
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preference Qualifications):
- Experience working on Big4 companies (Pwc, Deloitte, EY or KPMG)
- Accounting certifications
- Active CRC
- Data analytics tools
- Experience with SAP, Oracle
- Understanding of Brazilian tax regulations
