Your contribution
As a Regional Sales Manager you are responsible for the development of strategic sales plans for your region – Germany, Austrian, German speaking Switzerland. You provide coaching and development to junior sales staff and monitor actual sales performance against sales targets and objectives. You have the drive and motivation to identify and develop sales opportunities with new and existing customers, even for regions you are not responsible.

This is a very independent position and you carry out most of the tasks yourself. Your focus is on developing and maintaining healthy, positive customer and consortium relationships, while providing vital customer feedback to internal KGL Accucoms departments. You influence and manage sales strategy, work cooperatively with the Marketing and Telemarketing departments to plan campaigns, attend exhibits, visit customer sites and coordinate support activities with our Inside Sales Representatives.

You will report to the Sales Director EMEA. 


Responsibilities

  • Bring new business through sales of site licenses to academic, medical and scientific libraries in the region including consortia and academic/research/corporate institutions
  • Identify key sales opportunities and managing sales against target 
  • Taking a lead in major Consortia negotiations, Government tenders and large corporate deals
  • Build positive relationships with major purchasing groups
  • Develop robust sales plans and coordinate sales and marketing activity with the other Regional Sales Managers
  • Develop larger consortia deals, national deals and multi-site corporate opportunities
  • Prepare sales reports, gap analyses and regional market updates for internal review and presentation to clients
  • Proactively develop new ideas to increase sales opportunities across the whole region 
  • Work cross functionally to deliver projects
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales Representative and Project Manager to execute specific telesales/telemarketing activities to selected accounts as needed
  • Take on projects as required by senior management

  


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Native/near native German: High level of English is also required. Dutch preferred but not essential.
  • Proven sales/account management: Track record of 2+ years in selling to academic, government and/or corporate sectors in dedicated market with good understanding of the region’s culture
  • Negotiation skills: Demonstrated ability to develop accounts strategically, explore alternative approaches, and negotiate effectively to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes that gain stakeholder support and buy-in.
  • Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to influence decision-makers and drive adoption of products, services, or solutions through effective communication, relationship building, and consultative selling techniques.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Strong multicultural awareness with a commitment to understanding customer needs, delivering value, and fostering long-term, productive relationships.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Proven ability to build trust, meet customer expectations, and enhance satisfaction and loyalty through exceptional service and ongoing engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively across a range of audiences and channels.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Trust and Credibility: Ability to establish confidence and credibility through ethical conduct, transparency, and consistent alignment with organizational values.
  • Proactive Approach: Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify opportunities, and drive activities beyond core responsibilities to achieve business objectives.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience within the publishing, academic, or information services sector is advantageous.
