Location: The ideal candidate will be based in the North Carolina area

Job Summary: The South Atlantic Regional Operations Director (ROD) will be responsible for overseeing the business aspects of hospital operations and upholding a sound medical environment in a region of veterinary hospitals that includes general practice hospitals within the South Atlantic group.  You will be working daily in a company that genuinely values local input and decision-making. The ROD supports the Hospital Managers and Medical Directors to meet goals and foster an excellent service culture and working environment.  The ROD will perform a wide range of activities related to hospital operations and works closely in collaboration with a Regional Medical Director (RMD) & a Regional Technician Director (RTD) to support the complex needs of our specialty hospitals.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountability & responsibility for the hospital profit & loss statements

  • Oversight of veterinary hospitals including doctors, technicians, and other paraprofessional staff

  • Management of 25+ direct reports including both Hospital Managers and Medical Directors

  • Lead the transition and integration of acquired veterinary practices into the region

  • Support the expansion and renovation of veterinary hospitals to drive expansion of services

  • Cultivate relationships within the veterinary community

  • In conjunction with Talent Acquisition, support the recruitment of medical professionals to increase patient and client services

Leadership Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills to develop a solid team

  • Managerial presence to influence and gain alignment on decisions

  • Must possess a high level of integrity with understanding of the need for confidentiality

  • Excellent analytical and organization skills, with strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities

  • Ability to develop and implement creative solutions to operational challenges based on the fluctuating needs of the region and organization

  • Ability to balance short-term needs and priorities while building for the future

Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership for a multi-site operational business

  • Veterinary site management experience preferred

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven experience building high performing teams

  • Ability to multi-task and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities

  • Experienced record of generating revenue growth

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, advanced degrees or credentials (MBA, CVPM, etc.) strongly preferred

  • 3+ years of progressive leadership

  • Success engaging with veterinary professionals

 

Special Working Conditions

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time

  • Project timelines and work volume / deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job

  • Flexibility in schedule and hours of availability

  • Environment where pets are present

  • Travel, daily throughout the region with overnight/out of area travel required several times per year for meetings and/or training

Additional Info: Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000 - $156,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
