Position Summary
The Regional Safety Manager provides development, implementation and control of the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) and DOT procedures in accordance to company needs, policies, public relations and state and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to terminal management in all aspects of terminal EHS&S and associated personnel.
- Assist with incident investigations & report any safety situations to Director.
- Perform Risk Assessment audits.
- Administer safety training as necessary for Company Drivers, Independent Contractors, Loaders and terminal personnel.
- Conduct on-site accident investigations.
- Handle safety accidents until conclusion and stay for long periods of time gathering information.
- Develop a positive working relationship with Terminal Manager, Company Drivers, Mechanics, Loaders, and other office personnel.
- Investigate all preventable and non-preventable accidents/incidents within the region.
- Provide remedial training/correction action to individuals as a result of the investigation discoveries.
- Assist in the development of new safety policies and training procedures as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience using Microsoft Suite applications, TMW, People Net
- Five years professional safety experience in the transportation industry
- Experience with driver applications, Elogs, DQ files, HOS Compliance, Driver Qualification processing, log auditing, electronic mobile communications, FMCSA regulations, OSHA and transportation of hazardous materials
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Transportation Logistics
- Experience in liquid bulk transportation safety
- Knowledge of Hazardous Materials transportation regulations
