Description

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasonographer) provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the sonography room, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment processes. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Successful candidates will have a passion for patient care excellence, team work and enjoy working with the public. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or Cardiovascular Technology program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.  Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the following specialties Abdomen, OB/GYN and Vascular.  Breast certification preferred.  In addition, certification in Adult Echo Cardiography is preferred.  Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies), as appropriate.  Basic Life Support (BLS) required. 

Skills Required

  • Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program
  • Active ARDMS certification in Abdomen
  • Active ARDMS certification in OB/GYN
  • Active ARDMS certification in Vascular
  • ARDMS Breast certification
  • Certification in Adult Echo Cardiography
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialties
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
