Job Summary:
The Referral Coordinator will provide support to the Methodist Orthopedic Specialist group. The Referral Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact into the Methodist Orthopedic Specialist clinics as it relates to incoming calls, appointment scheduling, and follow up calls related to patient referrals. The Referral Coordinator will also serve as a liaison between the referral departments, Methodist Medical Group clinical practices and associated medical neighborhood.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure referral is obtained as needed
- Follow up with PCPs and insurance to ensure referral is active and accurate
- Request medical records, imaging and any other documents needed
- Update registration
- If new patient, input all patient information (demographics, insurance, etc.)
- Schedule new patient appointments
- Send new patient paperwork via MyChart
- Works WQ 11874 (Referred To)
- Work Leading Reach and Right Fax referrals, added to Epic
- Always attach referral to visit appointment
- Ensures all requested patient referrals are completed within the established department time-frame criteria.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Practice Manager
Education
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- College degree a plus, Preferred
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of professional medical knowledge in a practice setting
- Strong EMR Experience
- Strong Microsoft Experience
- Bilingual a plus
