Role: Recruiter
Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)
Salary Range: $71,000 - $80,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits
Role Overview:
Seasats has grown from 50 to over 100 people in under a year, and we're not slowing down anytime soon – we're accelerating hiring across engineering, manufacturing, and operations. To keep up, we're hiring a Recruiter to add bandwidth to our hiring process, helping us source, screen, and interview candidates faster and more consistently.
You'll inherit a hiring process with a foundation already in place, including candidate comms, interview structure, and screening steps, with plenty of room to make it better as we scale. Your job is to help move candidates through that process quickly and well: reviewing applications, sourcing where needed, running Round 1 interviews, and sharpening our screening so we're spending our time on signal, not noise. How well you execute it directly shapes who builds our vessels, the team we build around them, and the kind of company Seasats becomes.
Role Details:
You will:
- Review inbound applications, schedule and run Round 1 interviews across our open roles
- Maintain and improve screening questions to keep pace with AI-generated applications and low-effort candidates
- Partner with outside recruiters on our hardest-to-fill roles
- Build and maintain relationships with hiring managers across departments, from scoping new roles and writing job descriptions to sourcing and closing candidates
- Manage candidate experience and communication throughout the funnel, from first outreach through offer
- Maintain a tracker of open roles, hires made, and time-to-fill to report progress against our hiring plan to leadership
About You:
You're comfortable owning a wide, varied req load and switching contexts across different roles and candidate pools without losing momentum. You have:
- A self-starter attitude, with the initiative to figure out a hard req without waiting to be told how
- Genuine curiosity about people and what makes them a strong fit for a role, beyond just matching a resume to a job description
- A scrappy, get-after-it mindset that thrives on finding a way to succeed against new and challenging hiring goals across very different talent pools
- Some recruiting or interviewing experience, ideally including screening and interviewing, with sourcing experience a plus
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple active reqs across different functions at once
- Due to export control requirements applicable to this position, we are only able to consider U.S. persons, as defined by U.S. export control laws. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylee or refugee status
If you're looking to break into the talent and people industry, this is a real shot at it. You'll learn on the job, take ownership of hiring outcomes, and your good calls will help the rest of the team move faster.
About Seasats:
At Seasats, we're passionate about delivering maritime robotics solutions to redefine the maritime industry. Our primary products are unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), designed to carry sensors at sea for months at a time. Our USVs provide persistent monitoring and data acquisition to defense, scientific, and commercial customers, and have autonomously crossed both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. After thousands of years in which the only way to gather information from the ocean was to put people on a boat, these uncrewed vessels are transforming how humanity monitors and interacts with the ocean. Here, you’ll find the space and opportunity to do your life’s best work.
Along with your salary, you’ll receive perks including:
- Stock options
- Competitive insurance (including a 99% employer-covered Gold HMO plan or other options)
- 401k matching up to 4% of salary
- Four free lunches per week
- An employee activity fund
- A pet-friendly office
- Unlimited/Flex PTO
Hiring Notes:
When applying, you’ll be asked to provide a resume and answer a few screening questions.
Please note that we are currently unable to sponsor employment visas, so candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States.
We appreciate diverse perspectives and life experiences, and we’re committed to building a team that reflects a wide range of backgrounds.
