Location: New York City | Hybrid (4 days in office)
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
Reports to:  Director of Human Resources

About the Role

The Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist will support full-cycle recruiting and own the coordination of onboarding and new hire training across NYPKC.

This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth, efficient hiring process and delivering a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience that sets new hires up for success from day one.

This is a highly execution-focused role that partners closely with hiring managers, Heads of School, and the Director of HR to support hiring needs and ensure new employees have a strong start.

This role is based in New York City and requires regular in-person presence to support interviews, onboarding, and training across our schools.

How This Role Fits Into the Organization

  • Serves as the key connector between leadership, school teams, and new employees—ensuring NYPKC’s hiring and onboarding processes align with the organization’s standards for quality and consistency across all locations.
  • Partners closely with the Director of HR and Heads of School to execute full-cycle recruiting and onboarding operations, supporting NYPKC’s growth strategy and maintaining an exceptional employee experience.
  • Acts as a front-line representative of NYPKC’s culture and values by delivering a smooth, engaging onboarding journey that strengthens team cohesion and promotes long-term staff retention.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting Support & Coordination

  • Manage job postings, candidate screening, and interview scheduling
  • Support sourcing efforts across key roles (teachers, school staff, enrichment roles)
  • Ensure a responsive, professional candidate experience throughout the hiring process
  • Coordinate communication between candidates and hiring managers

Pipeline & Hiring Operations

  • Maintain organized candidate pipelines and tracking systems
  • Ensure all candidates are properly documented and progressed through stages
  • Track recruiting activity and support reporting on hiring progress
  • Help keep hiring processes moving efficiently across multiple roles
  • Signup, Coordinate and Attend Open House Recruiting Events

Onboarding Coordination

  • Coordinate onboarding from offer acceptance through first day
  • Ensure all new hires receive clear communication and a structured onboarding plan
  • Prepare onboarding materials, schedules, and documentation
  • Support a welcoming and organized first-day experience

New Hire Training Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for new hire training, including:
    • orientation sessions
    • required compliance trainings
    • role-specific onboarding sessions
  • Track completion of required trainings and follow up as needed
  • Ensure all onboarding steps are completed within expected timelines

In-Person Support Across Schools

  • Be present across NYPKC locations to support:
    • in-person interviews
    • onboarding sessions and orientations
    • new hire training coordination
  • Build strong relationships with school teams to ensure a seamless hiring and onboarding experience

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with:
    • Heads of School to support hiring and onboarding at the site level
    • Director of HR to ensure compliance and consistency
    • Internal teams to coordinate onboarding and training schedules

Process Support & Improvement

  • Help identify opportunities to improve recruiting and onboarding processes
  • Support implementation of more efficient workflows and tools
  • Ensure consistency and organization across all hiring and onboarding activities

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of experience in recruiting, HR coordination, or talent operations
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Experience coordinating interviews, onboarding, or training logistics
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-person environment
  • Willingness to travel between NYC locations regularly (4 days/week in person required)
  • Experience in education, childcare, or service-based industries is a plus
  • Experience with ATS systems, Paylocity a plus
  • Experience recruiting for multi-site companies
