What is the opportunity?
The Operations Control team are accountable for reconciling cash balances, transactions, intra-systems and positions (stock and listed derivatives).
Providing value by investigating and timely resolving differences, providing reporting, and recommending and implementing operational improvements to ensure efficient and accurate processes across the business to minimize risk.
What will you do?
- Reconciliation of cash, positions and transactions between internal data and external parties including custodian, clearing agents and prime brokers within established timelines.
- Identify and manage any discretionary system enhancements.
- Working closely with external vendors to understand key trade flow requirements, bank ledger postings and cash payment deadlines.
- Assist in resolving any position issues raised by the Investment Teams or Finance and investigating as necessary to identify the root cause.
- Work with internal teams to support the full client lifecycle beginning with fund onboarding.
- Review daily processes to identify and address any trends or concerns with breaks.
- Taking full ownership demonstrating awareness of any system upgrades and enhancements, and any potential regulatory breaches.
- Ad-hoc and scheduled project work as we progress to new platforms.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Interest/Understanding in financial markets, including investment banking and asset management.
- Ability to operate within a control framework under time sensitive deadlines.
- You can prioritise and balance multiple requests, showing knowledge to escalate when necessary.
- Good communicator with strong analytical skills.
- Desire to seek continuous improvements and enhancements.
- Work effectively as part of a team or on your own assignments.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice-to-have
- Experience performing cash and stock reconciliations in a prior role.
- Prior use of Smartstream TLM, Intellimatch, Broadridge or similar.
- Understanding of exposure reconciliation through Tri-Resolve.
- Experience of EMIR portfolio reconciliation
- Knowledge of fixed income assets including FX.
- Understanding of the impact breaks in reconciliation can have on the trade lifecycle and portfolio management.
- Working background of MT535/MT940/MT950 swifts, and custodian flat files used for reconciliation. Experience with MX message base is beneficial.
