We are seeking a Recertification Specialist to join our team and help us carry out our vision for the CHA community portfolio in Chicago, IL. The Recertification Specialist is responsible for reviewing applicant and resident documentation and data to determine program eligibility. The Specialist will interview applicants and residents for initial certifications and annual recertifications, request additional documentation as needed, and ensure all required information is completed accurately and within established timelines. This individual is expected to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, prioritize and complete work efficiently and timely, and adhere to all Fair Housing requirements.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATIONFull-Time: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $18.50 - $19.63 per hourESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Processes tenant applications and leases, including screening applicants, marketing, showing apartments, preparing leases, and coordinating move-ins.
- Ensures completion of all required documentation related to the applicant screening process, including following up with all relevant individuals and entities as required.
- Completes annual re-determination within required timeframes following program and HHDC procedures.
- Completes interim re-determination and unit transfers as required.
- Conducts applicant and participant briefings and interviews and completes certification and recertification forms accurately and completely.
- Ensures all policies and procedures related to leasing and occupancy are followed and that applicant files are reviewed by the Property Manager prior to lease execution and signing.
- Processes all required transactions within designated systems.
- Maintains resident files in a safe and secure environment in accordance with HHDC information security policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Assists with rent collection and lease enforcement.
- Assists the Property Manager and/or Assistant Property Manager with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities at the site.
- Coordinates and carries out all duties related to assigned waiting lists.
- Prepares and submits all required reports to the Property Manager prior to established due dates.
- Maintains and utilizes established record-keeping systems and documentation.
- Reports tenant problems, concerns, and complaints to the Property Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required. Two-year college education is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of related Leasing, Occupancy Specialist, or Recertification experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required. .
- Familiarity with project-based subsidy programs preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word, and the ability to learn other software programs.
- Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good basic math skills.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work accurately in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people.
