PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide hospital wide communication services and administrative or clerical support to Administration and the Executive Office. Acts as an information source for patients, public, staff, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Word processing experience required.
  • Must have excellent telephone manners and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously under pressure.
  • Must be able to interact with the public appropriately when placed in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to receive and follow instruction.
  • Must be able to accomplish tasks accurately and efficiently in a timely manner.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Prefer previous telephone switchboard experience.
  • Must be able to maintain good working relationships and communication with others.
  • Must be able to understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to function in a team setting.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Answers all incoming telephone calls quickly, politely, and directs them to the proper staff/department.
  • Receives and relays messages for hospital personnel and staff.
  • May be asked to make announcements, page staff, or implement emergency medical and fire procedures as needed over the intercom system,
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all visitors, patients, and co-workers.
  • Distributes mail received from the post office and other departments to the appropriate staff/department.
