PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide hospital wide communication services and administrative or clerical support to Administration and the Executive Office. Acts as an information source for patients, public, staff, and vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Word processing experience required.
- Must have excellent telephone manners and good communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously under pressure.
- Must be able to interact with the public appropriately when placed in stressful situations.
- Must be able to receive and follow instruction.
- Must be able to accomplish tasks accurately and efficiently in a timely manner.
- Must have good customer service skills.
- Prefer previous telephone switchboard experience.
- Must be able to maintain good working relationships and communication with others.
- Must be able to understand and maintain confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answers all incoming telephone calls quickly, politely, and directs them to the proper staff/department.
- Receives and relays messages for hospital personnel and staff.
- May be asked to make announcements, page staff, or implement emergency medical and fire procedures as needed over the intercom system,
- Provides exceptional customer service to all visitors, patients, and co-workers.
- Distributes mail received from the post office and other departments to the appropriate staff/department.
