Job Summary: 

The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inbound shipments and ensuring that products and materials are received accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role coordinates receiving staff, verifies shipment contents, manages inventory data, and collaborates with purchasing, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow into the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily receiving operations, including unloading, inspection, verification, and proper documentation of incoming goods
  • Lead and train receiving staff to ensure compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure accurate inventory control by verifying shipments against purchase orders and resolving discrepancies.  
  • Monitor and maintain receiving area organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance. 
  • Communicate effectively with procurement, quality control, production, and shipping departments to ensure timely processing of materials. 
  • Maintain receiving logs, documentation, and system entries in ERP or warehouse management systems. 
  • Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries, including communication with carriers and vendors as needed. 
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions related to receiving errors or process delays. 
  • Enforce safety procedures and support continuous improvement efforts within receiving operations. 
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure receiving accuracy and compliance with company standards.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field preferred. 
  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse or receiving operations, including 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role. 
  • Strong knowledge of receiving procedures, inventory systems, and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). 
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.  
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks). 
  • Forklift certification preferred. 
  • Familiarity with OSHA and workplace safety regulations.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a warehouse setting with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures. 
  • Requires standing, walking, and manual handling for extended periods.

Skills Required

  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse or receiving operations
  • 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role
