About Re:Build

At Re:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.

We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.

We hire builders. If you need a fully-scoped plan before you'll move, this isn't the role. We need leaders who turn ambiguity into action, stay close to the work, and build the systems that make scale possible — fast.

The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by The Re:Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. (link to The Re:Build Way principles)

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader to help build, launch, and scale a new venture in the CAM software space. This is a builder role for someone who wants to operate more like a technical co-founder than a traditional engineering executive.  The right person has built software products from 0→1 and through early commercial scale, ideally taking a SaaS product from concept to meaningful revenue and adoption in a startup, venture-backed company, or incubation environment inside a larger organization. You know how to build with a small, high-output team, stay close to the architecture and code, ship quickly, learn from customers, and continuously improve the product. You are excited about working with an R&D team that’s developing novel technology and about commercializing that technology in a solid product.

You are AI-native in how you build software. For us, that doesn't simply mean having an AI or machine learning background. It means using AI agents and modern AI development tools as a fundamental part of the engineering process—dramatically increasing the speed and output of small teams and rethinking traditional assumptions about how much engineering capacity is required to build great products.

You are hungry to build again and excited by the opportunity to spend the next several years turning a early-stage technology into a venture-scale business.

Experience in CAD/CAM, 3D modeling, simulation, spatial computing, developer tools, or other technically complex software environments is highly valued, but we care just as much about your ability to build, ship, learn, and scale.

What you get to do
  • Own the technical architecture and engineering strategy for a new CAM software venture.
  • Take technology from early R&D and prototypes through MVP, product-market fit, and commercial scale.
  • Stay hands-on with the technology, including architecture, code reviews, prototyping, and solving difficult technical problems alongside the team.
  • Build and lead a small, highly capable engineering organization designed for speed and leverage.
  • Establish an AI-native engineering model, using agents and modern AI development tools to dramatically increase engineering productivity.
  • Develop the technology-transfer strategy required to move novel research into a scalable commercial product.
  • Partner closely with product, customers, and commercial stakeholders to rapidly translate customer problems into working software.
  • Work directly with the GM and executive stakeholders to define product direction, priorities, and commercial targets.
  • Create the engineering systems, processes, and technical foundation needed to scale from an early-stage product to thousands of users.
  • Operate with the urgency, ownership, and resourcefulness of a startup while leveraging the capabilities of Re:Build.
What you bring to the team
  • Approximately 8–18 years of progressive software engineering experience, with meaningful experience building and leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a SaaS or technically complex software product from 0→1 and into commercial scale, ideally including growth toward $10M+ in revenue or a comparable level of customer adoption.
  • Experience working in a startup, venture-backed business, or new-product/incubation environment where speed, ambiguity, and limited resources were part of the job.
  • A strong computer science and software engineering foundation.
  • You remain close to the code and can meaningfully contribute to architecture decisions, technical problem-solving, prototypes, and difficult code reviews.
  • Deep familiarity with modern software architecture, cloud technologies, and contemporary development practices.
  • An AI-native approach to software development, including sophisticated use of AI coding tools, agents, and automated development workflows to enable dramatically higher output from small engineering teams.
  • Experience building and growing small, high-performing engineering teams without adding unnecessary organizational complexity.
  • Strong product instincts and a history of working directly with customers, product leaders, or forward-deployed teams to rapidly solve real-world problems.
  • Comfort operating in a forward-deployed engineering mindset: getting close to customers and problems, building quickly, iterating in the field, and turning what works into scalable product.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, commercial, and executive teams.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, 3D modeling, simulation, computational geometry, spatial data, developer tools, or similarly complex technical software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with C++ is a plus.
  • Most importantly, a strong desire to build another startup and stay deeply involved in the work required to make it successful.
How you operate

You build before you over-plan. You are comfortable starting with incomplete information, getting something into users' hands, and learning quickly.

You believe small, exceptional teams equipped with modern AI tools can outperform much larger traditional engineering organizations.

You don't measure leadership by how far you are from the code. You can set technical direction, lead people, work with executives, and still jump into the details when the team needs you.

You are energized by the challenge of taking something that doesn't fully exist yet and turning it into a real product, a real team, and ultimately a real business.

The BIG payoff
