The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk's Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global. The Position
The Rare Bleeding Community Liaison Leader is an influential first-line people manager for a team of patient-facing employees. They are responsible for effectively coaching, developing, and leading the Rare Blood Community Liaisons, within their team, to engage and educate patients and caregivers, advocacy organizations, and specialty pharmacy representatives. Their team is responsible for one-on-one engagement with patients and caregivers to educate on disease state and NNI products so that patients can engage in their own care. This is accomplished by engaging with patients and caregivers one-on-one and at community events. This role is responsible for developing and executing patient engagement strategies for Rare Bleeding Disorders community in collaboration with marketing, sales, medical, and market access. Rare Bleeding Disorders Community Liaison Leader is expected to possess a high level of clinical and customer knowledge. They should also understand and execute against headquarter protocols and possess drive and spirit to engage the Rare Bleeding Disorders community and support patients and caregivers by reducing barriers to therapy and providing education on disease, treatment and support offerings.
Relationships
The Rare Bleeding Community Liaison Leader reports to the Strategic Partnership and Engagement Lead and manages a team of Rare Bleeding Community Liaisons. They will work closely with the Field Sales Organization, Peer Community Liaison Leaders, Government Affairs team, Commercial Excellence, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders. External relationships include local patient chapter leadership, Specialty Pharmacy leadership, state and local advocacy organizations, patients, and caregivers.

  • Coaches and Develops Community Liaisons to perform against essential job functions such as building and maintaining business relevant relationships, disease state knowledge, understanding their market, and business planning
  • Coaches and Develops Community Liaisons according to the competency guide and success profiles for the RBCL role
  • Coaches and develops Community Liaisons, according to the Novo Nordisk EDGE Model, in order to effectively engage and provide education to patients and caregivers so that they can take action in their own care resulting in patient driven demand for NNI products
  • Oversees key customer relationships with local patient chapter leadership, Specialty Pharmacy leadership, and state and local advocacy organizations, to ensure behaviors that deepen NNIs relationships at an organizational level
  • Evaluates and provides feedback to Community Liaisons based on expectations, Key Performance Indicators, and Strategic Business Objectives
  • Monitors performance against strategic account management objectives/directives
  • Inspires and motivates to retain top performers and manages low performers appropriately
  • Demonstrates a strong command and understanding of all Legal, Privacy, and Compliance risk associated with community engagement
  • Ensures all activities are executed in close collaboration with leadership, legal, and compliance to ensure that they are implemented to meet NNI Way and comply with relevant regulations and policies
  • Monitors adherence to all NNI policies, procedures, and compliance obligations
  • Reviews and audits expense reports to ensure compliance to NNI Expense Policy


Physical Requirement Details
50-75% overnight travel required including evenings and weekends; Driver must maintain a valid driver's license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records.
Development Of People
Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree, and/or Pharm D required
  • Minimum of 6 (six) years of progressive pharmaceutical, healthcare sales, or community engagement leadership experience required
  • 2 (two) years management experience preferred
  • 2 (two) years of experience in Hemophilia or Rare Bleeding Disorders preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with peers and/or direct reports
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong and lasting relationships with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business and build strategies that reflect marketplace trends and customer needs
  • Demonstrated passion for patients and community organization engagement


The base compensation range for this position is $121,050 to $211,840. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
