RAPID PROTOTYPE SOFTWARE ENGINEER-MID (Web/Front-End Dev) JOB DESCRIPTION:
Put your software development skills and experience to use at Kegman, Inc. providing on-site computer science, research, development and test support to a Department of Defense agency’s rapid prototype development operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The Software engineer will provide support utilizing embedded systems (interdisciplinary electromechanical systems) and working with existing software (both COTS and GOTS) to address complex integration activities between sensor payload packages and platforms (airborne and maritime). The Rapid Prototype work center is dynamic in terms of the number of projects, most of which are complex and challenging. Kegman is a woman-owned, service-disabled Veteran owned small business headquartered in Melbourne, FL and provides engineering and technical support services to U.S. Government clients. This job requires the software engineer to have a fully adjudicated U.S. Government-issued security clearance and pass a polygraph, therefore, this position requires U.S. citizenship. This is not a telework job.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aid in developing and implementing embedded systems, data discovery, signal processing, data aggregation and exploitation, sensor/system modeling and analysis.
- Provide support for in-house technology initiatives and for monitoring the adequacy and feasibility of proposals and on-going projects by other parties in Government, academia and industry.
- Participate in and/or support field tests and operational demonstration activities (within U.S. or overseas).
- Process, exploit, analyze and report results from tests, demonstrations and evaluations to aid in determining sensor/system overall effectiveness.
- Provide organizational level tracking of activities and status reporting to synchronize and enhance the mission.
EDUCATION:
Associate’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development or other relevant field of study.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience performing tasks similar to those above
- Computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design)
- Proficiency with C, C++, C#, Python, Linux/Unix, Java
- GUI development
- Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with JavaScript functions (Node.JS and React.JS)
- General knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS)
- Strong problem solving and researching skills
- Clear, concise, and timely communication (written or spoken) are necessary to coordinate and communicate with a multi-discipline team (engineers, technicians, fabricators, managers).
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Micro-controller programming (e.g., Arduino)
- Working knowledge of Git / Git Hub / Git Lab
- Firmware/hardware interactions
- Familiarity with aeronautics, SUAS (small unmanned aircraft system), and mobile littoral systems
- Familiarity with SQL
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Use of Raspberry Pi
OTHER:
- Must pass drug test.
- US Citizenship required.
- Must have and maintain a U.S. Government issued security clearance.
- Must pass a U.S. Government administered counterintelligence polygraph.
