You will be supporting the growth of significant conservation opportunities, and the delivery of Biodiversity engagement work plans alongside our Treaty partners and stakeholders.
Your role will primarily involve managing a small limestone area containing five species endemic to the site and leading the recovery of dryland plant communities.
You will also have opportunities to develop your skills further by assisting in other field work across the basin.

Key accountabilities of this role include:
Management of critically threatened limestone tor plant populations
Monitoring and active management of various threatened plant species, including species considered to be “on the brink” and unique to the Mackenzie Basin
Assisting in Crown Land Pastoral Lease (CPLA) botanical surveys and land use assessments
Assistance in other field work including braided river bird surveys, invertebrate and native fish monitoring

What We Do
The New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) is a government agency responsible for conserving Aotearoa New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage. It protects and restores nature, leads biodiversity efforts, manages conservation lands and resources, and enables others to contribute to conservation outcomes.
