The opportunity

We're currently looking for a Range & Performance Data Analyst. Someone to join our Concepts & Simulation team, which is a part of the Attributes & Validation team in Engineering. supporting the development, validation, and optimization of vehicle range and performance through data-driven analysis and simulation. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed. And someone who doesn't mind the occasional bit of sustainable travel in the service of a cleaner form of electric performance.

The Concepts & Simulation team is responsible for supporting vehicle development with simulation and data analysis, ensuring our products deliver competitive range, energy efficiency, and performance. Working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and homologation teams, we contribute to both current model year improvements and future vehicle programs.

This position is located at our headquarters in Gothenburg. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.

The responsibilities

In this role, you'll be expected to support the development and validation of vehicle range and performance through advanced data analysis and simulation activities. Working as a member of the Concepts & Simulation team, you'll be instrumental in providing data-driven insights that influence engineering decisions, model year upgrades, and future vehicle programs.

  • Own and develop the data analysis activities related to Polestar's in-house Vehicle System Simulation tool, Pandora, including tool validation and simulation result assessments.

  • Analyze, interpret, and present simulation results to support vehicle range, performance, model year upgrades, and future vehicle programs.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with CAE engineers, quality teams, and other R&D stakeholders to drive alignment and support development activities.

  • Support homologation and pre-homologation testing through simulation, analysis, and technical recommendations.

  • Coordinate activities with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners, including leading investigations and task force activities related to vehicle range and performance.

The ideal candidate

In order to succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, there are a few characteristics you'll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility. Curiosity. The ability to take the initiative, to meet deadlines and requirements, and to abandon ideas when they're not feasible.

Competences

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, preferably within Product Development, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience within vehicle performance, simulation, CAE, data analysis, or a related automotive engineering field.

  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems together with proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink, with coding and scripting experience used for simulation, analysis, and workflow automation.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working effectively across cross-functional engineering teams.

Stakeholder interfaces

In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including:

  • Simulation Engineers across Polestar R&D.

  • CMQ Quality teams.

  • Vehicle Range & Performance colleagues.

  • Homologation and certification teams.

  • Engineering suppliers and development partners.

  • Program and vehicle development teams
