Position Purpose

As our Accommodations Specialist, you will support disabled and injured team members by facilitating workplace accommodations and return-to-work solutions that enable employees to safely remain at or return to work. This role serves as a key resource for ADA accommodations, leave programs, and return-to-work processes while partnering with team members, leaders, medical providers, and business partners to ensure compliance, consistency, and positive outcomes.

What You’ll Do & How You’ll Make a Difference

• Lead the interactive process for team members with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities
• Identify accommodation and return-to-work assignments that meet medical restrictions
• Review job descriptions and medical documentation to evaluate accommodation options
• Partner with leaders to coordinate, implement, and monitor accommodation requests
• Communicate return-to-work status and accommodation decisions to impacted parties
• Monitor and document case activity from injury or illness through reinstatement
• Partner with Risk Management and workers' compensation providers to support claim resolution
• Administer accommodation and return-to-work refusal processes and escalations
• Maintain proactive communication with impacted team members throughout the process
• Develop and administer return-to-work processes and procedures
• Ensure accommodation requests follow established policies and centralized processes
• Maintain documentation, tracking, and records for accommodation and leave cases
• Coordinate documentation required for legal claims and compliance matters
• Facilitate claim review meetings and develop proactive return-to-work solutions
• Recommend improvements to return-to-work and leave administration programs
• Serve as a resource for leave of absence programs, ADA accommodations, and related laws
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local leave and accommodation regulations
• Analyze leave trends and program effectiveness
• Design and deliver leave and ADA compliance training for leaders
• Coordinate leave pay, benefits, and payroll integration activities
• Communicate pay and benefit implications related to leave programs

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Associate degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
• Three (3+) years of experience managing leave of absence and accommodation programs
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
• Workers' compensation benefits administration experience preferred

Required Knowledge

• Leave of absence programs and administration
• ADA accommodations and interactive process requirements
• Federal, state, and local leave and accommodation laws
• Workers' compensation processes and return-to-work practices
• Human resources policies and compliance requirements

Work Environment

Work is performed in a normal business office environment. Occasional travel to outside locations or meetings may be required.

Skills Required

  • Associate degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • PHR certification
