How will you contribute to the team?

  • Assist in the review of design plans and schedules affecting railroad crossings, highway improvement plans where railroads are involved to ensure compliance with state and federal policies and procedures.

  • Assist in coordination with local governments, railroad companies, transportation authorities, and state and federal transportation agencies for the purpose of identifying, scheduling, and accomplishing railroad and railroad-related projects as directed.

  • Develops and executes Railroad Reimbursement Agreements, change orders, time extensions, and supplemental agreements related to railroad projects or programs.

  • Assist with coordination between department and the respective railroad company and prepares agreements necessary for construction highway crossings affecting rail lines.

  • Prepares and processes encumbrance requests to establish funding for approved projects.

  • Reviews and approves vendor invoices on a timely basis to facilitate payment.

  • Maintains all project files to withstand an impromptu audit.

  • Initiates requests for project initiation, on-going project requirements, monthly reporting, and project closings as needed. 

  • Participates in conferences, organizing meetings, project reviews, pre-construction meetings, task groups, teleconferences, site visits, field meetings and progress meetings as needed.

  • Participates in yearly field surveys relating to the Department’s Annual Diagnostic Review and evaluate the results to aid in determining critical crossing projects for priority programming.

  • Prepares and maintains reports, data, certifications, project records of all railroad crossings for conformance with federal and state guidelines.

  • Field and handle railroad related inquires as needed.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in various stages of preliminary engineering, construction, and project completion. 

  • This role is full time and based on site in a client office.

What will you contribute?

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or 8 years of experience.

  • The bachelor’s degree and/or work experience should be relevant to the duties listed above.

  • 4 years of experience in the rail and transit industry is required.
