ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The technologist will perform essential duties to assist the medical staff with the performance of major and/or minor operative procedures within the Operating Room, Pain Management, or Inpatient areas. This will include, but is not limited to, safely operating the fluoroscopic imaging equipment under the direction of a physician. In addition, they will perform portable diagnostic procedures with state-of-the-art digital equipment as part of pre-operative, operative, and/or post-operative assessment of the patient.
  • Completes duties according to the requirements of each approved procedure requiring radiological support.
  • Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduled procedures according to physician's preference card.
  • Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition.
  • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
  • Documents records and other forms accurately adhering to approved policies and procedures.
  • Confirms that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating x-ray.
  • Communicates information about the patient's status to other persons responsible for care of the patient.
  • Applies the prescribed procedures to competently perform the radiologic technologist functions.
  • Follows principles and aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure.
  • Remains available during the procedure to provide timely response to physician or patient needs.
  • Follows manufacturer's specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x-ray procedures.
  • Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure.
  • Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, storage and calibration procedures as directed.
  • Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety.
  • Maintains adequate supplies to provide immediate availability during the procedure.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • License: Kansas Radiologic Technologist License (required)
  • Certification: A.R.R.T. Certification or Registry Eligible (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Certification: Current BLS Certification
  • Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, occasional overhead, and low reaching.
  • Ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Requires ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely.

Skills Required

  • Kansas Radiologic Technologist License
  • A.R.R.T. Certification or Registry Eligible (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Ability to safely operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment under physician direction
