SUMMARY: Technologist will have a variety of job skills which include being proficient in plain film of all anatomy, portable x-ray work, C-arm for surgery and pain clinic, EKG’s, and CAT SCANS. Experience in PACS system use and computer work will be desirable, telephone etiquette and scheduling patients is a very important part of the job. Organizational skills, the ability to make decisions, problem solving, and confidence is required. Taking call for the Radiology department will be required and scheduled by the Department Head.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following, but is not limited to any other duties or tasks that may be assigned:
- Rotation of Call with a 30 minute response time
- Take orders from Physicians and carry out proper testing
- Work with a variety of departments in a Professional manner
- Keep informed as to new ideas and procedures for improving work methods and flow of work
- When exams are completed results of the testing will be given to the physician in a timely manner along with distributing reports and scanning in reports
- Proficient at performing CAT Scans with or without contrast. Eventually becoming registered would be a requirement.
- Perform EKG’s
- C-arm and Portable x-ray work
- Performs quality assurance/quality control as directed by supervisor
- Able to use PACS system and software. Route images and burn CD’s
- Ability to adapt to change and new services that are implemented in Radiology Dept.
- Prolonged standing /walking with reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and considerable lifting.
- Maintain patient records, logs, stats, and reports and adhere to HIPPA policies
- Attend Professional Development meetings through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in Radiology
- Participate in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required and may serve on professional/civic service organizations as a hospital representative
- Adhere to dress code and other hospital wide policies
- Complete mandatory in-service requirements
- Wear name tag and radiation badge while on duty
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner and complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
- Scheduling patients and coordinating appointments
- Cleaning work area, exam table and equipment with hospital approved cleaner
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum of Associates degree and or Bachelors Degree from accredited school. CAT Scan experience with registration is desired but will train with the understanding of getting board certified. Ultrasound experience is desirable. Must be registered by ARRT or ready to sit for Radiology Boards. Licensed by the State of Kansas and CEU’s up to date. Any past hospital experience and department manager experience is advantageous.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Kansas License and current ARRT License in good standing for Radiology and CAT Scan. ARDMS for Ultrasound license. All CEU’s current. CPR certification is desired with every 2 year renewal.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Provide accurate, concise and effective oral and written communication. Promote positive environment conductive to teamwork, innovation and positive morale. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems that deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

A two week notice of resignation is required to terminate employment in good standing
Skills Required
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited school
- Current Kansas radiology license
- Current ARRT radiology license in good standing or readiness to sit for the radiology boards
- Current continuing education units
- Ability to obtain CAT scan registration or board certification
- Current ARRT CAT scan license or registration
- Ultrasound experience and ARDMS license
- CPR certification with renewal every two years
- Previous hospital experience
- Department manager experience
