Department: Radiology
Operates radiation imaging equipment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images. Assists radiologist and other physicians performing imaging procedures. Provides procedural-related patient care and education. Maintains record and documentation for procedures.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- Must be licensed and hold current certification in Radiologic Technology by the State of California., Radiologic Health Section, Department of Health.
- Must be licensed by American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT).
- Obtain Fluoroscopy permit within two years of employment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Basic computer literacy and applications for data entry, record maintenance. Ability to recognize life threatening conditions and implement basic life sustaining actions.
- Ability to accurately position the body for imaging. Utilize techniques to physically manipulate and apply accessories to produce a desired image.
- Ability to select technical factors and operate imaging equipment to produce a quality diagnostic image.
- Use of beam restricting devices, patient shielding techniques, proper screen-film combinations, assessment and implementation of appropriate exposure to factors to minimize radiation exposure.
- One year Radiologic Technologist experience in one of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Specials, Ultrasound or Nuclear Medicine.
- Working hours while on-call may be inconvenient or unpleasant. Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of being paged while on call.
