JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to patients for diagnostic purposes and fulfilling the goals and objectives of Advanced Pain Care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Current registration with ARRT and successful completion of Basic Life Support
  • Three to five years of radiologic technologist experience preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Performs diagnostic procedures on patients to meet the established practice parameters and standards of care
  2. Utilizes proper positioning of patients, proper image identification, professional patient care and assessment and maintains proper documentation
  3. Prepares patients for exams by communicating the need to remove garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure, and explaining how the process works
  4. Adheres to medical and standard precautions as required per procedure
  5. Performs clerical duties, transports patients as required and processes images
  6. Administers contrast media and other medications as directed
  7. Assists with quality control/performance improvement, including maintaining radiographic equipment
  8. Closely follows provider instructions and apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process in order to help provider diagnose problems
  9. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and ensure safety of patients and staff members
  10. Monitor video display of area being scanned and monitor patients’ conditions and reactions to procedures, reporting abnormal signs to physician
  11. Adheres to all Advanced Pain Care policies and procedures
  12. Has regular and predictable attendance
  13. Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling, and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape. Computer skills preferred.

Reports to Office Manager, Radiologist and/or Providers

Skills Required

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Current registration with ARRT
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Three to five years of radiologic technologist experience
  • Knowledge of X-ray and radiographic equipment and ability to produce high quality images
  • Ability to administer contrast media and other medications as directed
  • Use of radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure patient and staff safety
  • Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds and perform physical tasks (stand, walk, stoop, kneel)
  • Good visual acuity and accurate color vision
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information and maintain accurate documentation
  • Computer skills for image processing and clerical duties
