ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Produce diagnostic radiographs in a timely and safe manner.

· Transport patients to and from the radiology department.

· Maintain patient’s records and master files.

· Assures preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment.

· Knowledge of Critical Access Hospital and Nebraska DHHS Regulations including Medicare and Medicaid Programs.

· Continues professional growth and development in radiology by performing continuing education projects and in-house training including skills competency.

· Provides on-call services as directed by ER Physicians.

· Provides assistance to other departments as needed during staff shortages.

· Performs research for additional Radiology needs as directed.

· Assures safety is maintained by wearing a radiation detection device.

· Ability to perform unique exams as needed under emergency conditions.

· Attends department meetings and other meetings as directed.

· Effectively communicates and complies with patient needs.

· Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring for all patients special considerations and provide timely and quality exams.

· Communicate and work cooperatively with radiology manager and other hospital employees as necessary regarding operations of the radiology department.

· Communicates with radiology manager concerning supply and patient preparation needs.

· Inventories and orders supplies as directed through hospital purchasing department.

· Report repairs and maintenance needs to hospital maintenance department.

· Assures all areas of radiology department are kept in an orderly and professional manner.

· Investigates new radiology techniques, best practices, equipment, and products.

· Has the ability to handle all emergencies pertaining to the radiology department.

· Has the ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and punctuality.

· Ability to work with a variety of patients, regardless of race, ethnic, or social background, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

· Support the Mission of Webster County Community Hospital.

· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Radiology Manager.

· Willingness to cross train in CT

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School education required. Must meet the guidelines set for the ARRT and the State of Nebraska for Radiology licensure.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Registered Radiology technologist with the ARRT.

Medical Radiographers license with the State of Nebraska.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Provide accurate, concise and effective oral and written communication. Promote positive environment conductive to teamwork, innovation and positive morale. Possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, families, employees, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to run a calculator and computer keypad. Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract variables in various situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, stand; use of hands and fingers and be able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds on a frequent basis and 50 – 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Skills Required

  • High school education
  • Meets ARRT and State of Nebraska radiology licensure guidelines
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Medical Radiographers license with the State of Nebraska
  • Knowledge of Critical Access Hospital and Nebraska DHHS Regulations including Medicare and Medicaid
  • Ability to provide on-call services as directed
  • Ability to wear and use radiation detection device (dosimeter)
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 50-100 lbs occasionally
  • Willingness to cross-train in CT
  • Accurate, concise oral and written communication skills
