The Role
Work with R&D team to design, develop, and deliver ML and scientific-computing solutions for drug discovery. Receive mentorship, attend seminars, complete code reviews, and contribute to research projects over a paid six-month, on-site part-time internship.
Summary Generated by Built In

DeepOrigin builds a platform that combines cutting-edge ideas from AI, scientific computing and quantum chemistry to accelerate the drug discovery process many-fold. Our aim is to reduce the timescale of drug discovery projects from years to months.
We’re looking for curious, motivated, and technically strong interns to join our Research & Development team. If you’re passionate about solving challenging scientific and engineering problems and eager to learn from experienced researchers and engineers, we’d love to hear from you.

🔧 Role Overview

As an R&D Intern, you’ll collaborate with fellow interns and full-time team members to design, develop, and deliver innovative solutions for real-world drug discovery challenges.

🌱 Learning & Mentorship

We believe internships should be more about learning than they are  about contributing. During your time with us, you’ll have access to:

  • Weekly seminars and tech talks led by engineers and researchers across the company.
  • Dedicated mentorship, with co-workers available to support your development, answer technical questions, and help you navigate challenges.
  • Code reviews and feedback loops that foster engineering best practices and personal growth.
  • Hands-on experience working on real product and research projects.
🤝 What You’ll Gain
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning, mathematical modeling and software engineering
  • Real-world experience solving problems that matter.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the chance to leave a tangible impact.
  • The possibility of co-authoring scientific papers published in leading scientific journals.
  • The opportunity to receive a full-time offer upon successful completion of the internship.

Requirements🧠 You Might Be a Good Fit If You...
  • Are currently in your third year or later of a Bachelor’s program (or pursuing a Master’s degree) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Have a solid command of English.
  • Have experience with at least one programming language relevant to our tech stack (e.g. Python, C++, Julia, etc.).
  • Are excited about building solutions that make a real impact.
✅ Selection Process

We aim to keep the selection process clear, efficient, and engaging. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Application Review
Submit your CV along with a detailed description of any scientific, technical, or academic achievements you would like us to consider. This may include research publications, open-source contributions, awards in competitions such as the IOI, IMO, ICPC, IMC, national or international Olympiads, or other exceptional accomplishments that demonstrate your potential.
  2. Offline Technical Test
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our office to complete a supervised technical assessment covering key foundational topics, including:
    • Problem solving
    • Mathematical analysis
    • Discrete mathematics
    • Linear algebra
    • Algorithms and data structures
  3. Final Interview
Meet with members of our R&D team to discuss your technical assessment, explore your problem-solving approach, and determine mutual fit. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions about the role, projects, and team.
  4. Internship Offers
Following the final stage, selected candidates will receive an offer to join our paid six-month internship program.
