R&D Engineer I

Job Title

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Under direct supervision, assists in conducting engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures.
• Participates in projects to characterize existing materials, leading to actionable improvements.
• Assists with project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek's customers.
• Assists with documenting work instructions and procedures.
• Operates process and test equipment per existing procedures.
• Exercises hands-on responsibility for assigned processing and/or analytical equipment.
• Works collaboratively under the guidance of more senior engineers with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.
• Participates in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.
• Undertakes training to develop skills.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics and engineering science.
• Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.
• Team player.
• Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
• Managing data fidelity and analysis (coding) is a plus

Position Specific Physical Requirements:

• Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.
• Must be able to lift 50lb.
