Comm-IT is looking for an experienced R&D Director to lead and grow one of our engineering groups.
In this role, you'll drive technical strategy, lead engineering managers and teams, and play a key role in shaping our products, architecture and engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Team Leads and engineering managers.
- Define the technical vision and influence key architectural decisions.
- Own delivery, quality, execution and timelines across multiple projects.
- Drive engineering processes and operational excellence.
- Develop and mentor employees, supporting their professional growth.
- Act as the highest technical escalation point within the group.
- Work closely with executive leadership and report directly to the CEO.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering management experience, including 3+ years managing Team Leads and/or Group Leads.
- Proven track record of delivering complex software products from concept to production.
- Strong leadership skills with a people-first, data-driven approach.
- 7+ years of hands-on full stack development experience with Node.js and/or Python.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems and system design.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Vast experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
