Position Details  

Salary Range: $50,000-$80,000 annually. This is a full-time exempt position.  

This is an on-site, full-time position in Rome, NY, with work performed at AFRL and the Innovare Advancement Center at the Rome Griffiss Institute campus. Candidates must be located, or re-locate, within a commutable distance to Rome, NY.

Responsibilities and Duties   

This project aims to support research conducted by the Technergetics Quantum Team. This research includes developing heterogeneous quantum networks with different quantum technologies, utilizing quantum technologies for practical applications such as signal processing and detection, improving quantum systems with novel technologies such as integrated photonics, and utilizing quantum algorithms for improved information analysis and planning. The ideal candidate will: 

  • Conduct team-based research, clearly convey scientific information through technical papers and presentations, devise novel concepts to advance quantum computing, communication, and networking through quantum or hybrid algorithms and technologies, and maintain clear and detailed technical research notes
  • Implement and evaluate quantum algorithms on quantum computers and quantum simulators
  • Advance quantum algorithms through the development of novel solutions on NISQ-era quantum computers and hybrid quantum-classical systems


Education and Certifications:   

This project requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, computer science, mathematics or closely related technical field.  


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, computer science, mathematics or related field with specialization in quantum information science
  • Experience in classical machine learning, quantum machine learning, computational physics or related field
  • Experience using quantum simulation tools such as PyTorch Quantum, Qiskit, Pennylane, Cirq
  • Has knowledge of/taken courses in Information Science, Quantum Computing, and Computational Numerical Methods

  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in physics, computer science, mathematics or related field with specialization in quantum information science
  • Knowledge of quantum information science and quantum networking including how to implement quantum key distribution or distributed entanglement.
  • Familiar with the physical qubit technologies used to implement quantum algorithms
  • Experience working with analogue and digital quantum computers
  • Knowledge of the problem-spaces in which quantum algorithms can be applied (e.g. QUBO for optimization)
  • GPU programming experience


Clearance:   

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for, at minimum, Secret access to classified information.  

  

Travel:   

This position is not expected to require travel.
