Quantitative Developer

The Opportunity

As a Quantitative Developer, Ventures at Nascent, you will focus on building tools that give us an edge in sourcing venture investments, doing diligence, monitoring, and supporting our portfolio companies. This will involve harnessing data from diverse sources and surfacing the most actionable information to enable our Venture team to continue to scale our impact and returns while remaining small and nimble. The tools that you will be building and maintaining will be used daily by our Venture team, directly impacting our most important investment decisions and relationships. The scope of this role and the tools being developed may eventually expand  to support other more liquid investment strategies, in collaboration with the broader Nascent engineering team. The ideal candidate for this role thrives in a fast-paced, impact-driven environment, where speed and adaptability are just as important as technical skill. You are a builder at heart—comfortable working autonomously, iterating quickly, and leveraging AI to accelerate development. You take pride in delivering results, not just writing code, and can navigate ambiguity to find creative solutions. Whether it’s optimizing data pipelines, automating workflows, or refining internal tools, you look for ways to maximize efficiency and drive better decision-making. Above all, you are competitive, resourceful, and eager to contribute to a high-performing team that values speed, innovation, and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data pipelines that integrate external APIs and third-party services into production systems
• Create intelligent backend systems that surface actionable data to inform investment decisions
• Work closely with investment team to optimize the system for desired outputs 
• Build focused internal interfaces that expose your systems' analytical capabilities
• Find areas for automation, increasing efficiency
• Work in a short feedback loop and see impact on a daily basis

About you:

• You must be obsessed with shipping code
• You can’t imagine going back to coding without your AI code editor
• You have exceptional tolerance for ambiguity - when given a clear goal and autonomy, you will figure out how to get there
• You deliver outcomes, but can recognize when you need more resources
• You are crypto-curious, venture-curious, or both
• You want to win, not just clock in/clock out

Requirements:

• 0-2 years of Python experience, with the understanding that modern AI tools allow ambitious developers to rapidly close knowledge gaps and tackle traditionally senior-level challenges
• Experience using AI to rapidly ship high-impact projects or tools
• Problem-solving skills; ability to independently run design/test/iterate loops 
• Evidence of collaborating as part of a lean team

Nice to Haves:

• Experience working with recommendation algorithms
