Quantitative Analyst

We are adding a Quantitative Analyst to our US trading desk in Austin. You will work side-by-side with our Day-Ahead (DA) and Real-Time (RT) traders, turning data into actionable insight, building models and tools, and helping the desk navigate ERCOT’s continuously changing market.
You will be responsible for:
Trading & Market Analytics
- Translate ERCOT’s AS rule changes (co-optimization) into desk-ready analytics.
- Prototype valuation and optimization logic for and risk profiles for virtual and asset backed trades.
- Quantify impacts on battery storage revenue stacks and hedging strategies.
- Build real-time dashboards that surface spreads, constraints and risk metrics during the trading day.
- Quantify strategy P&L drivers (volatility, skew, gamma, carry) and advise traders on position sizing.
- Quantify trading efficiency and best practices for virtual trades
Model & Tool Development
- Automate ad-hoc analysis in Python/SQL; package repeatable workflows into desk tools.
- Maintain scenario-generation engines for DA/RT prices, AS clearing and scarcity adders.
- Implement back-tests and Monte Carlo simulations to stress-test strategies under varying market regimes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide rapid data pulls and analysis for commercial, risk and software-engineering teams.
- Contribute to post-trade reviews, monthly performance decks and client-facing commentary.
‘Must have’ skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Physics, Economics or an analytical field.
- 3+ years of experience in an analytical role at an energy trading firm, ISO, RTO,renewable energy IPP/developer, or other relevant experience.
- 2+ years of related power systems, electric market design, or energy trading experience.
- Knowledge of market fundamentals within ERCOT.
- Knowledge of power system and market analysis tools including power flow, contingency analysis, and production-cost modeling.
- Understanding of transmission systems, power flow, congestion, and curtailment.
- Fundamental knowledge of how solar, wind, and battery storage assets operate within the various energy markets.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python
- Knowledge of ISO and RTO wholesale market operations and applicable state regulations.
- Working knowledge of the various forms of capacity and ancillary services markets.
- Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
‘Nice to have’ skills and experience
- Experience managing energy storage resources
- Experience structuring products related to carbon offset, long-term financing of renewables or energy storage assets
- Familiarity with Financial Derivatives, Options Greeks, Market Making & Market Microstructure
- Experience and confidence presenting to clients, board members and prospective clients.
