Position Summary:

Blendtech is seeking a technically minded Engineer, Engineering Intern (EIT), Engineering Technologist or Technician to support and develop our company-wide quality, compliance and document control systems.

This is not intended to be a traditional inspection-only QA/QC position. The successful candidate will work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Operations and Project Execution to help ensure our products, fabrication activities, procedures and documentation meet applicable technical, regulatory and customer requirements.


The position will initially have significant responsibility for Quality Assurance, Quality Control, product certifications and regulatory compliance. As the individual develops knowledge of our products and operations, there will be opportunities to take on broader technical, engineering, project and operational responsibilities within the company.


The role will work closely with experienced technical personnel during the transition and development of our integrated quality program.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain and continuously improve the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems.

Help integrate the company's various quality and compliance programs into a coordinated company-wide system, including:


  • Product certifications and approvals
  • TSSA and ASME B31.3 fabrication requirements
  • Manufacturing quality procedures
  • Inspection and testing requirements
  • Safety-related procedures and documentation
  • Document control and records management
  • Corrective action and continuous improvement processes

Support and gradually assume responsibility for product certification and approval programs, including applicable:


  • CSA
  • UL
  • UKCA
  • ATEX
  • IECEx
  • IECEE / CB Scheme requirements
  • Support TSSA-registered fabrication activities and compliance with applicable piping codes, particularly ASME B31.3.
  • Coordinate inspection and quality documentation associated with fabricated equipment, electrical assemblies, instrumentation systems and packaged process equipment.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, inspection forms, checklists, quality records and technical documentation.
  • Assist in developing and administering a structured document control system for engineering, manufacturing, quality and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate non-conformance reporting, root cause investigations, corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Administer and improve the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process and use field and warranty information to identify opportunities for product and process improvement.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and certification inspections.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Field Operations and Project Management to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
  • Review supplier documentation and support supplier quality activities where required.
  • Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend practical improvements to designs, manufacturing processes and company procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives affecting engineering, manufacturing and project execution.

Required Qualifications:


Diploma or degree in one of the following, or a related technical discipline:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electromechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
  • Industrial or Manufacturing Technology

  • Ability and willingness to work directly with Engineering, shop personnel, tradespeople, inspectors, certification bodies and customers.

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset but is not required in every area:

  • Industrial electrical equipment or control panels
  • Mechanical or process equipment fabrication
  • Instrumentation and process control
  • Packaged equipment or skid fabrication

  • Hazardous-location equipment
