Quality Production Laboratory Manager
As Quality Production Laboratory Manager you will manage the day-to-day operations of a laboratory that tests and analyses the quality of the organization’s raw material, in-process products and finished goods and. You will also manage the day-today operations of the Colour making-/ Multi-Tint department. This position is reporting to the Site Operations Leader at our location in Kampen.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Key tasks
- Develop, implement and monitor laboratory operating procedures to ensure that experiments and analyses are conducted within established budgets and according to established scientific standards
- Prioritize and allocate laboratory operations and workflow so that the laboratory’s equipment and resources are used efficiently and work schedules and targets are met
- Liaise with other functional and operational area managers (R&D, production, etc.) to understand their current and future product testing needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into laboratory operations
- Establish annual laboratory budgets, monitor the cost and effectiveness of laboratory activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve volume and quality performance targets
- Research, evaluate and recommend investments in technology, equipment, systems or other assets that will enhance the laboratory performance
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and ready to be used at all times
- Ensure that all formulas are updated into the system and database is kept in a secure environment
- Follow all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health & Safety and Environment
- Make calculations for upscaling, troubleshooting and reallocations, making products fit for production in Kampen (PF/PM- Production Masters) or helping phase out to other plants.
The following is required for this role:
Required education, experience and job-related skills
- MBOplus-HBO (or equal to MBOplus-HBO practice work and think level)
- Vocational education in Chemistry or Higher Laboratory degree would be valuable
- 3 or more years of experience as a laboratory technician
- Knowledge of the paint and coating technologies incl. base paints/colouring-colourants
- Ability to work as part of a team, with excellent people skills and developing talents, as well as work individually
- Ability to communicate in English e.g. during audits
- Computer skills, e.g. Excel
- Knowledge of ERP systems e.g. Dynamics 365 updating routings & formula’s
- Demonstrated Capability to drive for results, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, such as Continuous Improvement/Lean skills e.g. Green Belt, SPC (statistical process control) is an pre or shall be certified as part of training schedule.
