Quality Control ManagerPosition Summary

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control programs that ensure products meet established company, customer, industry, and regulatory standards. This role oversees quality inspection activities, audits manufacturing processes, investigates non-conformances, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. The Quality Control Manager partners closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality products while supporting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and finished products to verify adherence to quality specifications and established standards.
  • Lead quality inspections, testing activities, and product evaluations throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Investigate customer complaints, internal quality concerns, and non-conforming materials to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and maintain quality documentation, records, reports, and metrics.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and defect reduction.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate results to management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Oversee calibration programs and inspection equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
  • Manage supplier quality performance and assist with supplier qualification, evaluation, and corrective action processes.
  • Train and mentor employees on quality standards, inspection procedures, and quality management system requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and other quality improvement methodologies.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and validation activities from a quality perspective.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and other quality personnel as assigned.
  • Responsible for employee selection, training, performance management, coaching, and development.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with quality management systems, audits, and corrective action programs required.
  • Experience within heavy manufacturing, industrial products, rail infrastructure, or related industries preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality management standards.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, FMEA, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and inspect manufacturing operations for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production areas.
Work Environment

This position operates in both office and manufacturing settings. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment is common. Compliance with all safety procedures and PPE requirements is mandatory.
