Job Summary

The Quality Lead will be based in Buffalo Grove, IL and reports to the General Manager. This role is responsible for leading quality control activities to ensure products meet established quality, reliability, and compliance standards. The Quality Lead directs and supports the quality team, oversees inspection and testing processes, analyzes quality data, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity, reducing waste, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective quality management practices.

Principle Accountabilities
  • Lead and direct quality control activities to ensure products and processes meet established quality standards.
  • Inspect and test products at various stages of the production process to verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain testing procedures to determine product dimensions and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Set up and perform testing on materials, components, subassemblies, and finished products under various operating conditions.
  • Review, analyze, and document test results, maintaining accurate quality records and reports.
  • Evaluate product performance data and prepare summaries identifying deviations from quality and reliability standards.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and waste while increasing overall process efficiency.
  • Suggest and implement changes to manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and quality procedures.
  • Monitor quality metrics and identify trends requiring corrective action.
  • Maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
  • Select, assign, and oversee quality control duties while evaluating team performance and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quality-related training programs to improve team capabilities and ensure procedural compliance.
  • Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain records, reports, and correspondence related to quality activities, reviewing errors and providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, purchasing, inventory control, research and development, and management teams to support quality objectives.
  • Ensure all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are followed while performing assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Previous leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of quality inspection methods, testing procedures, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience analyzing quality data and preparing detailed reports and corrective action recommendations.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, quality reporting software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and develop team members.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
