As a Quality Engineer, you will ensure that products manufactured at the PPG Huntsville Aerospace Transparency facility meet customer’s requirements for conformity, support products and processes, and foster customer satisfaction. You will identify quality, product, process, and production issues for improvement and corrective/preventative actions to ensure zero impact to the customer must be your passion.
Key Responsibilities:Manage and perform First Article Inspections on PPG products observing AS9102.
Manage customer specific requirements by offering technical support to internal and external Design Engineering authority throughout design, development, qualification, and production of products.
Manage several transparency projects.
Lead, implement, and maintain APQP & PPAP projects.
Investigating quality escapes to our customers with the goal of leading problem-solving teams to develop corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
Work with Engineering, Production, Lean, and Supply Chain to resolve product issues.
Use Quality Tools to solve issues methodically and present resolution to leadership.
Maintain main quality metrics to establish baselines and track improvement.
Develop yearly improvement plans, which include Six Sigma methodologies, improving process capabilities.
Participating in analyzing rejected or returned product for conformance to specifications and associated corrective actions.
Occasional (10% or less) travel to support multiple customers in the US and internationally.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, quality assurance, or related technical field.
4+ years of quality engineering related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint – presentations, charts, etc.)
Previous Configuration Management Experience and experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems preferred.
Communicate at a high level, and representing PPG quality management.
Preferred experience includes: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE); Quality Engineering in Aerospace/Automotive Manufacturing; APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Controls Plans; Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma; Design Engineering; Root Cause Corrective Action; Corrective Action Board; Material Review Board; Familiarity working within an AS9100 compliant QMS; Deep understanding of AS9102.
