Working within the Financial Wellbeing Platform you can play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Platform's purpose is to create a leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. You can ensure we help them become more financially resilient and improve their overall financial wellbeing.
We aim to achieve this purpose through improving colleague tools, creating tools to allow customers to better handle their day-to-day finances, and by simplifying the Customer Financial Assistance (CFA) systems through an increased focus on Automation, DevOps, Cloud technologies and Rationalisation. Our aim is to generate a forward-thinking agile culture that supports CFA in delivering high quality, efficient and positive impact outcomes for our customers.
The role of the Quality Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver in the Financial Wellbeing Lab are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect. You'll join a dynamic, co-located team who are passionate about new ways of working. Being part of cross-disciplinary teams, Quality Engineers should be able to showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended whilst validating and verifying feature behaviour against requirement specifications. Our Engineers work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex and often non-routine whilst being quick learners who can learn and adapt to new technologies being used within Lloyds and the wider industry.
What we are looking for:
- Continually collaborates with the rest of the squad to deliver quality software applications.
- Continually works with the squad to ensure the problem is understood, well documented and the right design is provided to satisfy customers’ requirements.
- Works in collaboration with squad members to understand and identify test scenarios, design, and create test cases for 100% test coverage.
- Designs, develops and extends frameworks, templates, and guidelines for creating test scripts for both manual and automated execution.
- Writes detailed Test Plans and End of Test Reports, evidencing the quality of the software application we develop and deploy.
- Facilitates reviews and walkthroughs of Test plan and End of Test Reports with the development squad to ensure there are no ambiguities and 100% test satisfaction.

- Problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills. Very good communication skills which allow the candidate to explain complex problems effortlessly as well as interact with the team effectively
Required Skills:
- You have an excellent understanding of BDD and or ATDD development methodology, agile mindset, a shift-left and continuous testing approach.
- You have a growth mindset and have used automated testing tools such as Playwright, JavaScript, Java, selenium, cucumber, and Gherkin
- Your experience has given you an understanding of programming principles, standard processes, and industry guidelines for creating re-usable, maintainable, and sophisticated code for test automation.
- You can work without supervision and keen to improve process for improved productivity, pace, and efficiency.
- You enjoy reviewing colleague’s work and providing feedback to others in a constructive and positive way for growth and development.
- Learning new technology is your passion and Devops tooling for continuous testing using GITHub Enterprise, Jenkins, Cloud computing is something of interest.
- Exhibits and adopts a can-do demeanour and positive demeanour
Primary Skills:
- Test Automation, Javascript, Java, DevOps & CI/CD expertise (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, Harness, UCD, Harness)
Secondary Skills:
- Playwright, Selenium, VB Script
Skills Required
- 4–7 years of professional experience
- Excellent understanding of BDD and/or ATDD development methodologies
- Experience with automated testing tools including Playwright, JavaScript, Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin
- Understanding of programming principles and processes for creating reusable, maintainable test automation code
- Test automation experience
- JavaScript and Java programming skills
- DevOps and CI/CD expertise, including GitHub, Jenkins, Harness, or UCD
- Playwright and Selenium experience
- VBScript experience
- Ability to work independently and improve processes
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience creating test plans, test cases, automation frameworks, and end-of-test reports
