Job Description
Working within the Financial Wellbeing Platform you can play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Platform's purpose is to create a leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. You can ensure we help them become more financially resilient and improve their overall financial wellbeing.
We aim to achieve this purpose through improving colleague tools, creating tools to allow customers to better handle their day-to-day finances, and by simplifying the Customer Financial Assistance (CFA) systems through an increased focus on Automation, DevOps, Cloud technologies and Rationalisation. Our aim is to generate a forward-thinking agile culture that supports CFA in delivering high quality, efficient and positive impact outcomes for our customers.
The role of the Quality Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver in the Financial Wellbeing Lab are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect. You'll join a dynamic, co-located team who are passionate about new ways of working. Being part of cross-disciplinary teams, Quality Engineers should be able to showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended whilst validating and verifying feature behaviour against requirement specifications. Our Engineers work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex and often non-routine whilst being quick learners who can learn and adapt to new technologies being used within Lloyds and the wider industry.
What we are looking for:
- An automation first Test approach with a passion for driving productivity and a focus on reducing risk.
- Excitement and enthusiastic about learning new things with a growth mindset
- Excitement about enabling others to achieve greater results than one can achieve alone and being part of a wider delivery team responsible for end to end solutions.
- Technical background with experience of Object Oriented Programming Languages including JavaScript, Java, Visual Basic script
- Good knowledge of database and ETL batches with SQL programming language
- Confidence to express own opinions, and be pragmatic about modifying them when appropriate
- Significant Problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills. Very good communication skills which allow the candidate to explain complex problems effortlessly as well as interact with the team effectively
- You will be a strong advocate of industry trends, innovation and continuous improvement demonstrating how we can remain competitive in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to pivot and adapt to changing requirements whilst maintaining a consistent attention to detail

Key Responsibilities
- Create Test artefacts in line with an agreed Test Strategy, writing automation Test scripts against user stories and maintaining Test traceability.
- Identifying defects and working with the squad team to provide fixes preventing defect leakage. Helping to capture lessons learnt to prevent similar issues in the future.
- Open to new “thought process” and Change mindset, bring in new ways of working/ innovative and creative ways of delivering “Quality”
- Improving and enriching our existing test suites by adding new tests that are well crafted, efficient, maintainable and readable
Primary Skills:
- Test Automation, Javascript, Java, VB Script, SQL, ETL, DevOps & CI/CD expertise (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, Harness, UCD, Harness), Data Analysis
Secondary Skills:
- Mainframe / COBOL, Batch Processing, Data Storage
Skills Required
- 4 to 7 years of professional experience
- Experience with test automation
- Experience with JavaScript, Java, or VBScript
- Knowledge of databases and ETL batches
- SQL programming experience
- DevOps and CI/CD expertise
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in agile, cross-disciplinary teams
