What you will do:  

The Quality Engineer for Capital Projects is responsible for ensuring that Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors deliver all project scope and deliverables in strict accordance with contract requirements. This role provides technical expertise, develops and implements quality plans, and acts as the primary interface between project stakeholders to maintain compliance, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan and Surveillance Programs to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements 
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, contractors, and vendors, to maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation, such as Quality Control Plans, procedures, and test protocols. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and project-specific requirements. 
  • Conduct audits of vendor and contractor quality management systems to ensure ongoing compliance. 
  • Provide training and guidance to site personnel on quality procedures and best practices. 
  • Maintain accurate records of all quality activities, ensuring traceability and readiness for audits or client reviews. 
  • Participate in project meetings to report on quality status, issues, and resolutions. 
  • Review and approve contractor quality documentation, inspection and test plans, and ensure all deliverables are met as per the scope of work 
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment at vendor facilities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and defined Hold Points. 
  • Verify that equipment meets project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Review vendor documentation, including material certificates, test reports, and compliance records. 
  • Perform regular inspections of all construction activities to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards. 
  • Verify that materials, workmanship, and installation processes meet contractual and regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor critical construction activities at designated Hold Points, ensuring no work progresses without quality approval. 
  • Sign off on completed activities, confirming adherence to quality requirements and project scope. 
  • Identify and document non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and verified. 
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and adherence to project schedules. 
  • Provide detailed inspection reports to stakeholders, highlighting compliance and any deviations. 
  • Ensure proper documentation of all inspections, including checklists, photographs, and test results. 
  • Ensure accurate and complete quality records, certificates, and turnover documentation for project handover and close-out 
  • Support the implementation of lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives in project quality management 

What we need you to bring to the team:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field and 2+ years of related experience. 
  • Proven experience in quality assurance/quality control roles within capital projects, preferably in an EPC environment 
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to large-scale construction projects 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute quality plans, conduct audits, and manage non-conformance processes 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams 
  • Familiarity with document control, inspection, and testing methodologies relevant to capital project delivery 
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ CQE, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is an asset. 

Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $83,000-$91,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
