Job Summary: The QA/QC Supervisor oversees all quality assurance and quality control activities related to structured cabling installations, including copper, fiber optic, and low‑voltage systems. This role ensures that all work meets industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI), customer specifications, and internal quality procedures. The supervisor leads field inspections, testing, documentation, and corrective actions while coordinating closely with project managers, field technicians, and clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Structured Cabling Quality Oversight — Develop and enforce QA/QC procedures for copper, fiber, and low‑voltage installations.
  • Field Inspections — Perform site inspections to verify cable routing, support systems, labeling, terminations, and workmanship.
  • Testing & Certification — Oversee copper and fiber testing using Fluke or equivalent certification tools; validate test results and ensure compliance.
  • Standards Compliance — Ensure installations meet TIA/EIA standards, BICSI best practices, NEC requirements, and project specifications.
  • Documentation Control — Maintain accurate as‑built drawings, test result files, punch lists, and quality logs.
  • Team Leadership — Train and supervise technicians on proper installation methods, testing procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Material & Equipment Verification — Inspect incoming cable, connectivity hardware, racks, and pathways for compliance with project requirements.
  • Issue Resolution — Identify deficiencies, issue NCRs, track corrective actions, and verify rework completion.
  • Client & Contractor Coordination — Communicate quality findings with project managers, general contractors, and clients; support project closeout.
  • Safety & Pathway Compliance — Ensure cable pathways, penetrations, and firestopping meet code and manufacturer requirements.

 

Supervisor Duties:

In accordance with applicable Company policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, will perform the following supervisory responsibilities: planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.   

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in low‑voltage cabling, telecommunications, or electrical systems.
  • 3+ years of structured cabling or low‑voltage installation experience, with at least 1–2 years in a QA/QC or supervisory role.
  • BICSI Installer/Technician, BICSI RCDD (preferred), Fluke certification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of copper/fiber installation, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fiber Optic experience with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber troubleshooting.
  • Construction coordination experience and familiarity with construction sequencing, permitting, and coordination with other trades.
  • Experience with cabling certification software, project management platforms, and digital QA/QC reporting tools

Skills Required
