Your role in our success:

The Quality Assurance Specialist III is responsible for auditing construction, operations, maintenance, and emergency response in order to identify opportunities and recommendations for improvement. This role may be assigned more complex audit projects. This role ensures work processes are adequate, effective, and ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted energy delivery in conformance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as all company policies and procedures.

At this level, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate advanced skills and work with minimal supervision both independently and in a non-supervisory role providing technical leadership to other Quality Assurance Specialists.

Who you are:


  • Performs audits to verify that construction installation, maintenance, and emergency response activities involving Chesapeake Utilities' energy delivery assets meet internal policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements. This includes the installation of main, services, meter sets, line locating, leak survey, and any other covered task the Company determines needs to be audited.
  • Documents audit findings and makes corrective action recommendations. This includes recommendations for updated policies and procedures, suspension and/or disqualification on covered tasks, and remedial training.
  • Provides technical leadership to other Quality Assurance Specialists.
  • Ensures that business relationships with employees, outside contractors, and third parties are professional, constructive, and beneficial to all parties; represents the Company's Vision and Mission values in its interactions with all internal and external parties.
  • Works closely with and coordinates with the Construction Services, Field Services, and District Operations Managers to ensure that projects are appropriately reviewed and verified.
  • Assists with the onboarding of new contractor crews.
  • Monitors material suppliers, material storage, and works with Engineering on material failures working toward continuous improvement.
  • Completes audits of records and relevant project documents (i.e., service cards, permits, and as-built drawings).
  • Provides technical assistance and advice to team members and other departments on difficult and unusual problems when necessary. Investigates complaints and follows up to ensure satisfactory resolution.

Who you are:

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred

Experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience in Quality Assurance or related role required

License

  • Standard Driver's License (non-DOT) required

Certification

  • Operator Qualification (OQ) certification preferred

Knowledge

  • Familiarity with utility industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to natural gas pipelines
  • Familiarity with gas construction practices, trenching, backfilling, welding, and pressure testing
  • Understanding of natural gas infrastructure including pipelines, valves, meters, regulators, and compressor stations
  • Awareness of OSHA safety standards and state-specific utility regulations
  • Understanding of OQ requirements and how they apply to field personnel and contractors
  • Understanding of contractor management and onboarding processes

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of gas construction standards and safety protocols
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other business software
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret federal and state regulations as they relate to enterprise procedures and processes
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to interact with multiple departments across the enterprise as well as with external stakeholders
  • Ability to clearly convey findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences

Skills Required
