Who We Are

OtherSide Entertainment is an independent game studio with remote staff throughout North America. Our mission is to create deeply immersive games that draw players into richly imagined worlds; games that empower players to choose their own play-style, making their experience unique and personal; games that encourage players to team up with their friends and weave their own shared narrative; the kind of games that are powered by our players’ vision as much as our own. Together, we aim to evolve the “player-authored” tradition of Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Thief, and Deus Ex – all games developed by the company’s founders, Paul Neurath and Warren Spector.

The Opportunity:

The Quality Assurance Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of our under-development video game. We are looking for someone who is passionate about QA and pushing the craft forward in the service of making world-class games.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about stealth, multiplayer, and immersively systemic games.

Responsibilities:

  • This person will oversee all aspects of QA, from day-to-day testing operations to the strategic development of test cases and management of outsource contract QA teams.
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid background in PC and console game testing, including experience with publisher certification processes and a keen understanding of the Games as a Service model and its unique areas of consideration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance for PC or console video games, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with publisher certification processes (e.g., Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with Games as a Service (GaaS) titles and understanding of the unique challenges and strategies related to continuous development and release cycles.
  • Has prior experience with non-functional testing (such as performance, scalability, load testing, compatibility etc) in order to enhance functional test coverage
  • Strong experience in developing test plans, cases, and effective QA methodologies.
  • Experience managing outsourced QA resources and ensuring quality across distributed teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and disciplines.
  • Passion for video games and a commitment to quality and innovation.

Preferred:

  • Experience or passion for immersive simulations.
  • Experience testing Unreal games.
  • Experience organizing playtests, in house and with select external partners
