QA/QC Supervisor

Our shipyard is growing, and we are looking for a dedicated QC Supervisor to help drive excellence in every project. This position plays a vital role in ensuring all work meets the highest quality and safety standards while leading a skilled team of inspectors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Responsible for the quality assurance, quality control, welding inspections and other inspections and documentation on the site, for project(s).
  2. Supervise QA/QC Inspectors, sub-contract inspection personnel (when applicable), and monitor the allocation, work quality and quantity.
  3. Coordination with Project Management, Production, Customers and Third-Party Surveyors as required.
  4. Preparation of Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Reports.
  5. Review and Certification of Final Documentation for Customers.
  6. Review and Approval of Subcontractor / Vendor Inspection Reports.
  7. Provide an interface between GCM supervision and client inspection personnel. Includes assisting client inspection/engineering personnel in the preparation of plans, drawings, welding procedures, inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
  8. Responsible for ensuring that the verification and documentation of all work is being completed to applicable codes, standards, and client specifications, and for the planning and control of welding materials, welding procedures and welding operations.
  9. Perform field inspections.

Required Education & Experience:

  1. High School or GED
  2. At least six years of Quality Control / NDT experience in a Fabrication Shop or a Shipyard.
  3. Additional CWI or CSWIP Certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office-controlled environment.
  2. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE.
  3. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
  4. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.
  5. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
  6. Aboard ships, rigs, both on and offshore as well as in confined spaces.
  7. The work may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

Necessary Equipment Operation:

  1. General inspection measuring and testing equipment.
  2. General Computer skills MS Word, Excel, etc.

Special Skills:

  1. NDE / NDT and/or NACE Skills preferred.
  2. Knowledge of Welding, Materials and Codes/Specifications preferred.
  3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand codes/specifications, sketches, and technical manuals.
  4. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
  5. Strong Organizational skills
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. High performance and a strong team player.
