Title: QA Lead
Schedule Format - Location: Hybrid - San Francisco (Temporary)
Pay Information: $136,435 - $160,544
Temporary - 18-Month LT Hire, Full TimeWe're looking for a QA Lead to help drive quality across our engineering organization. In this role, You'll own our testing strategy, build and maintain automated test suites, and work closely with developers to catch issues before they reach production. This is a great opportunity for someone with years of hands-on QA experience who's ready to take on more ownership and start shaping how quality is approached across the team. We're looking for someone who can be a quality leader/champion for our team, who has been instrumental in bringing QA standards up to modern standards.

This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely.
Responsibilities- Design, write, and maintain automated end-to-end tests using Playwright
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new features and regression testing
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to define acceptance criteria and quality standards
- Identify, document, and track bugs through to resolution
- Help establish and improve QA processes, tools, and best practices
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Mentor and provide guidance to other QA team members
- Balance manual and automated testing approaches based on project needs
- Report on test coverage, quality metrics, and release readiness
- Assemble and manage hardware testing suite. Android/Apple Phones, Tablets, and Car Play
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a QA or software testing role
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for browser automation and end-to-end testing
- Proficiency in TypeScript
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies (functional, regression, integration, smoke testing)
- Experience working with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to think through edge cases
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams
- Comfortable working in an agile/scrum environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with API testing (e.g., Postman, REST Assured)
- Familiarity with performance or load testing tools
- Prior experience mentoring or leading QA processes
- Exposure to accessibility testing standards

Skills Required
