Job Description
Rhombus moves fast. Software delays are costly, so it's vital for Rhombus’ Quality Assurance (QA)team to meet target dates and stay within expectations and budgets. We’re seeking those who consistently meet deadlines by breaking up the development process into attainable testing goals, working relentlessly on testing at high accuracy and speed, and relaying any issues back to the development and product teams or leaders.
Rhombus is seeking a QA Engineering Intern who will support the design and execution of manual and automated test plans and help monitor the development process to ensure that the design and software adhere to company standards.
We’re seeking candidates who can make independent, deep technical contributions with minimal guidance, while also working across multiple, fast-paced teams.
Intern candidates need to have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, which encompass presenting to product managers, software engineers, project managers, and customers. Those with experience and desire to refine and improve their understanding of testing groups and processes should apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and super-fast environment. Able to fit in well within a startup environment.
- Strong self-starter mentality with agile methodologies experience preferred. Ideal candidates should be comfortable with short iterations of development and testing and changing business requirements.
- Support the documentation of test cases, perform and document risk analysis. Record test progress and results.
- Code automated tests and create test plans.
- Identify any potential problems that users might encounter, constantly iterate.
- Research and analyze product features being tested, research new tools, technologies, and testing processes, and review user interfaces for consistency and functionality
Qualifications
- At minimum Bachelor’s degree in software design, engineering, or computer science. Masters preferred, with at least one internship in SDLC.
- Proficient in Python programming or Javascript.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, and ability to apply software methodologies to testing and to driving reductions in technical debt.
- Knowledge of software engineering practices, software automation and testing technology like Jmeter, Selenium, and Cypress
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Background or prior experience at a technology company, SaaS firm, defense contractor, or in the startup environment
