QA Infrastructure and Tools Engineer

As a QA Tools Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the tools and infrastructure that enable efficient and reliable testing across Cinarra’s environments. You will focus on automating QA environment management, evolving our AMI-based infrastructure, and creating scalable environments for functional, load, and performance testing. You will work closely with QA, Development, and Operations teams to ensure infrastructure and platform changes can be tested effectively and consistently. Your work will reduce manual operational effort, improve environment stability, and enable teams to identify scalability and performance issues earlier in the development lifecycle.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain tools and automation for provisioning, configuring, updating, and supporting QA environments.

• Own and evolve the QA AMI lifecycle, including automated AMI creation, validation, updating, versioning, and maintenance.

• Develop and support scalable, production-like test environments for functional, load, performance, and infrastructure testing.

• Build an approach for managing multiple AMI branches and environment configurations across Development, QA, Pre-Production, and Production stages.

• Design, implement, and maintain automated load and performance testing solutions that provide meaningful insight into system behavior, scalability, and resource utilization.

• Develop automated test-data generation and environment preparation capabilities to support large-scale and repeatable testing scenarios.

• Validate infrastructure-related changes and upgrades, including changes to distributed platform components such as Kafka and other system dependencies.

• Investigate environment instability, deployment issues, performance degradation, and infrastructure-related failures; develop tooling and automation to prevent recurring problems.

• Integrate QA infrastructure, environment management, and performance testing workflows into CI/CD pipelines to enable repeatable and reliable testing.

• Collaborate with QA, Development, and Operations engineers to identify opportunities for automation, improve testability, and continuously enhance the reliability and maintainability of Cinarra’s testing infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in QA Engineering, Test Automation, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar engineering role.

• Strong programming or scripting skills in at least one language commonly used for automation and tooling, such as Python or similar

• Hands-on experience with Linux-based environments, including system configuration, troubleshooting, log analysis, and performance investigation.

• Experience building or maintaining automated test environments, test infrastructure, or environment provisioning solutions.

• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure and virtual machine image management, preferably AWS and AMIs.

• Experience with CI/CD systems and integrating automated testing or infrastructure workflows into delivery pipelines.

• Understanding of load and performance testing concepts, including workload generation, scalability testing, bottleneck identification, and analysis of test results.

• Experience troubleshooting distributed applications and infrastructure components and working with logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.

• Good understanding of software development and QA processes, with the ability to collaborate effectively across QA, Development, and Operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing or maintaining AMI/image pipelines and managing multiple image versions or branches across different environments.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, or equivalent tools.

• Hands-on experience with performance and load-testing frameworks such as JMeter, Gatling, Locust, k6, or similar.

• Experience working with distributed systems and technologies such as Kafka.

• Experience creating automated test-data generation frameworks for large-scale or performance testing.

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience developing internal engineering tools or self-service solutions that reduce manual QA and operational work.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
