We’re hiring a mid-level QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance-readiness of a fintech platform. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Security to validate user-critical financial workflows (e.g., onboarding/KYC, payments, loan servicing, account management, reporting) and to strengthen our testing practices across web services, APIs, and data flows.
This role is hands-on and balanced: you’ll execute thoughtful testing, increase automation coverage where it matters most, and help improve release confidence in a regulated environment.
What you’ll do
Test planning & execution
- Translate product and technical requirements into clear test plans, test cases, and risk-based coverage.
- Test end-to-end customer journeys, including key fintech flows such as:
- onboarding, KYC/identity verification, account funding
- payment processing and reconciliation
- transaction history, statements, fees, interest, and schedule recalculations
- role-based permissions and approvals
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing across web apps and APIs.
- Validate edge cases that matter in fintech: rounding, currency formatting, time zones, retries, idempotency, partial failures, and chargebacks/disputes (where applicable).
Test automation (pragmatic and high impact)
- Build and maintain automated tests at the right level (UI, API, integration), focusing on high-value regression areas.
- Contribute to automation frameworks and CI integration to support fast feedback and stable releases.
- Improve test data management and automation reliability (flaky test reduction, deterministic assertions).
Quality practices & release readiness
- Partner with engineers during design and development to shift quality left (early reviews, acceptance criteria, testability improvements).
- Define and run release validation (pre-release checklists, smoke test suites, deployment verification).
- Triage defects with actionable reproduction steps, logs, and impact analysis; verify fixes and prevent regressions.
Data integrity, auditability & compliance support
- Validate data correctness across services and systems (ledger-like accuracy, reconciliation consistency, reporting alignment).
- Support audit and compliance needs (evidence of testing, traceability to requirements, controlled change processes).
- Work with Security/Compliance teams to validate:
- access controls and least-privilege behavior
- secure handling of PII (masking, retention, logging hygiene)
- encryption-in-transit expectations and session management behaviors
Observability & production quality
- Use logs, metrics, traces, and monitoring to validate production behavior and troubleshoot issues.
- Support incident follow-ups by helping reproduce customer-impacting bugs and validating mitigations.
What we’re looking for (required)
- 3–6 years of QA / Software Testing experience in a product environment.
- Strong understanding of testing fundamentals: test strategy, risk-based testing, defect lifecycle, and regression planning.
- Experience testing APIs (REST/JSON) using tools like Postman, Insomnia, or similar; ability to validate responses and data integrity.
- Working knowledge of SQL and ability to validate data at rest (queries for verification, reconciliation checks).
- Experience contributing to test automation (any of: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebDriver IO; plus, API automation frameworks).
- Comfortable working in Agile teams with CI/CD release cycles and collaborating with engineers and product stakeholders.
- Strong communication: clear bug reports, test summaries, and status updates.
Nice to have (strong plus in fintech)
- Experience in regulated environments and/or supporting audits (SOC 2, PCI DSS, SOX, ISO 27001).
- Familiarity with fintech domains: payments, card processing, lending, banking integrations, reconciliation/ledger concepts.
- Experience testing event-driven or distributed systems (queues, retries, idempotency keys, eventual consistency).
- Performance and reliability testing experience (k6, JMeter, Gatling) and understanding of SLAs/SLOs.
- Experience with security testing basics: OWASP Top 10 awareness, authentication/authorization test scenarios, PII handling validation.
- Experience with test management and traceability tools (Jira, Xray, TestRail, Zephyr).
Tech stack
- Test automation: Playwright / Cypress / Selenium
- API testing: Postman / REST-assured / Playwright API / SuperTest / Cursor AI Agnet
- CI/CD: Bit bucket Jenkins
- Defect tracking: Jira
- Data: PostgreSQL/MySQL + SQL
- Observability: Datadog / Kibana / Grafana / CloudWatch
- Environments: Docker, Kubernetes (nice to have)
What success looks like (first 3–6 months)
- Improved release confidence through stable smoke/regression coverage and meaningful automation additions.
- Faster defect discovery with strong triage quality (clear repro steps, reduced “can’t reproduce”).
- Reduced production defects in high-risk flows (payments, reconciliations, schedules/calculations, permissions).
- Better test documentation and traceability appropriate for audits and compliance expectations.
- Strong cross-functional partnership with engineering, product, and security.
Education Required:
Quality Assurance Associate degree or Engineer Bachelors degree
