QA Automation Engineer (Java, Selenium, API Testing, BDD Frameworks)

Synechron is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer specializing in Java and Selenium to join our global team. The primary purpose of this role is to develop, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products. This individual will contribute to delivering high-quality digital solutions that meet business and technical requirements, supporting Synechron’s commitment to innovative, efficient, and scalable testing practices.

Required:

• Java (version 8 or higher) with hands-on experience developing automation scripts
• Selenium WebDriver framework for browser automation
• Test management tools such as ALM and Jira
• SQL proficiency for database validation (queries, data validation)
• XML, XSLT, SOAP, and JSON formats for API testing
• Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber
• API testing using REST/SOAP services, automation experience

Preferred:

• Experience with additional automation tools like TestNG, Maven, Jenkins
• Knowledge of cloud-based testing environments and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter)

• Design, develop, and maintain automation test cases and frameworks for web and API testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, business analysts for requirement analysis
• Create and execute automation scripts to validate functionality, performance, and security
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage and automate regression testing processes
• Debug, troubleshoot, and report bugs or issues, and verify fixes
• Integrate automated tests into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Maintain test documentation, including test plans, execution reports, and defect logs
• Continually improve automation frameworks, tooling, and practices to increase efficiency and reliability
• Stay current with emerging testing technologies and best practices

Programming Languages & Frameworks:

• Essential: Java (8+) and proficiency in using Selenium WebDriver
• Preferred: Experience with TestNG or JUnit, BDD frameworks such as Cucumber

APIs & Data Formats:

• Expertise in API testing using REST and SOAP
• Proficiency with JSON, XML, and XSLT for data validation and processing

Databases & Data Management:

• Strong SQL skills for querying and validating database data

Tools & Methodologies:

• Experience with test management tools like ALM and Jira
• Familiarity with version control (Git), build tools (Maven, Jenkins)
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
• Experience with CI/CD integration for automation testing workflows

Cloud & Infrastructure:

• Preferred: Exposure to cloud testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Additional Skills:

• Experience in automated API and UI testing in complex enterprise environments
• Understanding of SDLC, test planning, and testing lifecycle management

• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in QA automation, with a focus on Java and Selenium
• Demonstrable experience in automation frameworks and scripting
• Domain knowledge in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Trading is a plus
• Prior experience working within Agile teams and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
• Experience in API and database testing is essential

• Develop and refine automated test scripts for web and API testing
• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and review meetings
• Collaborate with developers, QA leads, and product owners for requirement clarifications
• Execute automated and manual test cases, analyze test results
• Log, track, and verify defect fixes
• Enhance automation frameworks for scalability, maintainability, and performance
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to team members
• Support CI/CD pipeline integrations with automated tests
• Produce test reports, metrics, and documentation for stakeholders

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant technical field
• Professional certifications in testing tools or automation (preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Java, Selenium, and automation frameworks
• Continuous learning through professional development programs or certifications

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts clearly
• Adept at collaborating within diverse, cross-functional teams
• Proven ability to adapt to changing project priorities and requirements
• Innovative in developing effective testing strategies and frameworks
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tests and tasks
