About the Role

Global MedComms is a medical communications team within Springer Health+, part of the Springer Nature Group. The team supports manuscript development and publication activities in the fields of medicine and pharmacology. Our headquarters are in the United Kingdom.

 We primarily support manuscript submission to peer-reviewed medical and pharmaceutical journals based on data from clinical studies conducted by pharmaceutical companies.

The Publication Coordinator position we are currently recruiting for is a specialist role responsible for managing the manuscript development process from an objective and scientific perspective, working closely with authors, clients, and medical writers.

Although this is a highly specialized field, the role offers many opportunities to apply your previous experience, particularly in areas such as stakeholder coordination, attention to detail, and communication. Our team includes members with a wide range of professional backgrounds.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage timelines for the preparation of Japanese or English manuscripts and conference-related materials, including abstracts, presentation slides, and posters. Project Management, Publishing Workflows & Systems
  • Serve as the point of contact for clients, mainly pharmaceutical companies, and authors, and communicate with journal editorial offices. Customer-Focused, Interpersonal Awareness
  • Confirm and collect submission requirements, author information, conflict-of-interest. Quality Management, Publishing Workflows & Systems
  • Gather information necessary for manuscript submission and conference presentations, and handle submission and registration procedures. Tech Savvy, Process Optimization, Case Management
  • Drive projects forward in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Sales staff, Operations staff, Medical Writers, and others. Operational Excellence, Decision Quality

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to handle complex client communications, interpret nuanced business requirements, and respond appropriately to detailed inquiries from Japanese clients.
  • Business-level proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and verbal communication, with confidence in interacting with international stakeholders.
  • At least three years of practical experience in project management.
  • Ability to organize the status, deadlines, and stakeholder communications of multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and proceed with flexibility.
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate meetings and discussions smoothly with internal and external stakeholders, including authors and clients.
  • Ability to manage documents, schedules, and confirmation items carefully, with attention to accuracy and quality.
  • Interest in the dissemination of medical and pharmaceutical information and publication activities, with a willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare, or medical publishing.
  • Experience managing the progress of manuscripts, conference presentation materials, or similar deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as physicians, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and external vendors.

Please note that this position is based in the Springer Nature Tokyo office. Therefore, applicants must be able to commute to the Tokyo office and must have the legal right to work in Japan.
